What is ServeSmart?
ServeSmart is an online training course that helps anyone who sells or serves alcohol in the state of Washington obtain their MAST Permit. More importantly though, our course aims to educate and empower our students to not only follow the law and avoid legal consequences, but to do their part in keeping their community safe.
Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010, shortening the lives of those who died by an average of 30 years.
The alcohol server plays an important role in public safety and we endeavor to create a learning environment that is engaging and easy to follow. Supporting safe and healthy communities benefits us all and we are committed to providing alcohol servers an exceptional learning experience and preparation for testing for the Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) certification.
Our mission at ServeSmart is to promote community safety by providing training for alcohol servers to learn the art and science of serving alcohol responsibly. We aim to help the learner have an understanding of the effects that different quantities and types of alcohol have on individuals and to teach specific techniques to identify and manage patrons who may be over-consuming. Our ultimate goal is to train alcohol servers to recognize their role in protecting the public by preventing the sale of alcohol to intoxicated and underage persons.
